Visiting Rome

The Eternal City

If you are planning on visiting Rome, you most likely have a few things in mind that you would like to see: the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese are usually the top attractions. There are, however, things that you should know before you go,otherwise, the top four Roman experiences you could end up with are getting scammed at a restaurant, wasting money on what you thought was a reputable outlet, paying 5-star restaurant prices a frozen TV dinner and leaving Rome with the intention to never return.

I first came here on tour with Hair-the musical. Most of our experiences were positive, yet the negative ones opened my eyes and allowed me to enjoy myself upon my subsequent visit. Once I knew what I was in for, I fell in love with this land of oxymora and have been here ever since.

Visiting Rome is more like visiting many of the beautiful third-world countries, you would not attempt it without being informed. I adore Italy but it has been a bumpy learning experience. If you come prepared, you will avoid the pitfalls, recognize the gems and will have a glorious time that you will yearn to repeat so much that you may even consider moving here yourself.

I strongly urge you to read the first two articles in this segment: Avoiding Scams and Mangiare Bene. Outlet Shopping is a must read if you are planning on visiting any outlets during your stay. If you are a pretty girl of any age, please read Avoiding Italian Predators. The others are informative articles that will give you a better insight and will help you to recognize the extraordinary marvels that exist in Rome.

    • Hi Sammie,

I did it all myself and it’s super easy through WordPress. If you sign up for a free blog on WordPress, you’ll find that you have many themes to choose from and you just choose all the elements you like. It’s easy and free and you can’t beat that. I’m glad you like it. Thanks!
